Duck Athletic 5 The Highwayman 7
NEVER mind Sky Sports, take a trip down to Blaguegate for the Skelmersdale & District Sunday Football League and see some real entertainment!
This match was played at a really high tempo straight from the off and The Duck flew into an early lead after two minutes thanks to Kieran Powers, with the evergreen Daley Connolly making it 2-0 after 18.
Highwayman were unfazed and got themselves right back into it with two goals in two minutes from Paul Smith (20) and Jay McDevitt (22) with Ste Taylor then putting them ahead after 32 only to see another old-stager John Anderson level the scores for The Duck just before the break.
The second half got off to a flyer as James Murphy put Highwayman back into the lead after 47 minutes but again The Duck battled away and found another equaliser, this time from Paul Davis after 65.
Highwayman took charge in the remaining 25 minutes with goals from Paul Smith (70) and a brace from Ben Barnes (82 and 86) before Kale Grieve grabbed a late consolation for The Duck. What a great game!
Railway Tavern 2 Kennelwood Butty Bar 4
ANOTHER excellent, competitive game with Kennelwood just coming out on top.
Davey Wilson gave Kennelwood the lead after 24 minutes only to see his goal pegged back by Adam Howard four minutes later to see the first half end 1-1.
M. Mullory put Kennelwood back into the lead after 55 minutes but Adam Storey levelled five minutes later as both teams acquitted themselves well.
Kennelwood sealed the points with late goals from Wilson again after 80 minutes and K. Lewis after 88.
Village Inn 3 The Tanner 2
A SPIRITED Village Inn side outfought and eventually outscored a very resilient Tanner side. Village Inn’s hat-trick hero and man-of-the-match was Paul Jenkins who was perpetual motion throughout.
