SKELMERSDALE United will celebrate National Non-League day at the West Lancashire College Stadium on Saturday when they are hoping for a bumper gate for the visit of Frickley Athletic.
The West Lancashire based club have given out around 500 tickets to local schools giving entrance to an adult and child for just a pound.
They are further inviting supporters of the bigger clubs who are without a game on Saturday because of England’s World Cup games to come along and sample local football at its best.
Anyone attending the game that is a season ticket holder at Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, Wigan Athletic or others that bring along a season ticket for that club can have entrance for £5.
Chairman Paul Griffiths said: “We are always looking to attract new support and where better than the local schools, it is their town team and they are the football supporters of the future. As for the big clubs, we are finding an increasing amount of football fans are getting fed up with Premier League clubs and the way people are just a number, so I would like to invite them to come and have a look at Skelmersdale. I am sure they will see attractive football played in the proper manner. Plus they will be made welcome and are in no way a number.”
