Ormskirk and District Sunday Football League
Bar Du Fay 2 Mariners 7
MARINERS coasted into a 3-0 half time score thanks to a Lee Smith hat-trick, as the Bar looked in awe of their opposition.
By the time they decided to give it a go, the Mariners had increased their lead to four with a John Prescott strike.
Neil Thorbinson netted for the Bar getting hurt in the process, as he followed up a tame attempt from Paul Modern. The Bar’s second came from a spot kick converted by Jay Winsor during what was to be their best spell of the game, as they moved the ball around with some fluent football.
The finishing however left a lot to be desired, and the Mariners had no trouble in this department as they began to step up the pace. Charlie Marr bagged a brace while the impressive Jason Carey was left in acres of space to smash home the seventh. Job done as the Mariners got their season off to a flyer.
MCA 5Ambrose Ellis 2
MCA GOT off to a perfect start with an early goal from Adam Taylor that lifted the spirit of the whole team and helped produce a good game along with a win for his side. Jay Middleton and Stuart Williams increased the lead before the break with Joe Swain grabbing one back for Ambrose.
John Perry was first to hit the net in the second half to bring Ambrose back into the game, but MCA hit back twice through Dave Roach and Danny Jones tom secure the points.
Database 1Falcon 4
THIS game was all but over at the break.
A brace from Liam Newcombe and one from Mick Richards gave Database a huge hill to climb as they faltered throughout the 45 minutes. The second half saw an improvement from Database though too little too late. Varian Sanizador gave Database some hope.
