RICHMOND welcomed Hurst Green F.C. to the Thomas Galvin sports field at Abbey Lane for a second round tie in the Lancashire Amateur Shield.
Andy Kenyon was looking impressive down the left flank, the young fullback on the end of a set piece that saw his header being cleared at the last moment.
Hurst started taking the game to the hosts and a counter attack in the 35th minute brought a good save out of Shacklady in the Richmond goal.
After the break Hurst Green started to force the game but the home defence was up to the pressure, central defenders Scott Taylor and man of the match Chris Jones were both having outstanding games.
It was in the 54 minute Richmond were awarded a penalty, striker Murt brought down in the box, referee Mr Chadwick pointing to the spot. The forward took the kick which was initially well saved by the visiting keeper Chester, unfortunately for the keeper the ball ran loose and Jimmy Hanson followed up and rammed the ball low into the back of the net.
In the 80th minute Hurst Green got an equaliser.
Although tiring Richmond battled to the end to ensure a spot kick shoot out.
The successful penalty takers where Jimmy Hanson,Mike Cooney and Lee McNab, not forgetting goalkeeper Tom Shacklady who saved the last kick.
