NICK SARGENT from Eastham Lodge won the Liverpool Alliance at Ormskirk where the early arrivals found the course covered in a thin layer of snow and a long delayed start.
Sargent returned 38 points, one ahead of Barry Taylor from Houghwood who handed in a card that included two birdies and an eagle on his second nine. James Westwood from Eaton and Royal Liverpool’s Jason Dransfield shared third place with 36.
The pro-am produced a three-way tie, Sargent, with Ian Orme from Upton-by-Chester, Alex Evans and Tom Woods from Bromborough and Robin and Peter Carroll, also from Bromborough.
All three partnerships returned 44.
Scoring was also tight in the pro-am but Peter Guy of Childwall and Neil Gravener of West Derby finally claimed first place with 40 points, followed by five pairs on 39.
The snow caused a delay of two hours and wrecked the planned tee times. But starter Barry Critchley set the players off from two tees and more than 100 completed their rounds in daylight.
