DESPITE a slow start Burscough took the lead when Rach B slotted the ball home from close range after being left unmarked at the back post.
Penwortham hit back with two of their own before the end of the half.
After a few words of encouragement at the interval and a couple of fresh legs to start the second-half, Burscough set about Penwortham, this time with the slope in their favour.
Two goals in quick succession turned the game on its head as, first, Rach H and then Becca D put Burscough back in front 3-2. The game now became stretched as both teams strived for the next goal.
Penwortham equalised only for Burscough to retake the lead when Becca D notched her second before going off with a pulled muscle.
The visitors created a number of excellent chances and, not surprisingly, equalised for the third time.
With five minutes to go Nic P capped an excellent game with a timely winner.

Burscough North 2
LAMMACK are an established team in the West Lancs Girls League and the game got off to a flying start.
The home side took the lead when a corner on the right was headed by a Burscough winger and glanced into her own goal.
Burscough rallied after this and threatened with some very good wing play only for Lammack to score again.
Burscough again continued to pressurise Lammack, who unfortunately continued to drag players down or halt play by any means.
Ten minutes before the end of the referee awarded Burscough a free-kick outside the Lammack box which this was swiftly taken by Amy Bulman and fired into the top of the net.
Burscough continued to play some great football but lost key midfielder when Sarah Lygo received a knock on the ankle and had to leave the field.
The Burscough coach was forced to make some drastic changes after taking stock of the first-half injuries and several girls were switched to unfamiliar positions.
North suffered and Lammack scored a further two goals.
Again Burscough fought back and on one attack Amy Bulman was cut down from behind in the Lammack box. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot and Beth Clitheroe coolly converted to the bottom right of the net.
Burscough continued to pressurise but just couldn’t break through the Lammack defence.
