Holy Rosary Rhinos and Holy Rosary Hurricanes battle out a thrilling derby encounter

AN EXCITING match took place in the Alice Petricca Junior Football League last Saturday morning in Aintree.

Holy Rosary Rhinos locked horns with their rivals from Holy Rosary Hurricanes in an under-9s encounter at Holy Rosary RC School.

A very tight opening half saw both defences on top as each opposition strike force found their way to goal blocked.

The Rhinos edged the play up to the half-time break, but when the second period began it was the Hurricanes who threatened to blow their opponents away.

However, it was the Rhinos who were to have the final say.

A break downfield saw Rhinos player Louis Bennett lob the ball into the penalty area where teammate Charlie Deakin gained possession. He then found Matthew Roberts in space who powered home what proved to be the only goal of the game.
