Burscough U15s enjoy a season to remember

BURSCOUGH Junior under-15s are a local football team who have been training and playing together for over 10 years since many of the boys were in reception class.

Their manager Ken Owens said: “I took pride in ensuring that the team were having fun regardless of their abilities. Because of this the team consists of boys that were not accepted by other teams due to not meeting their ‘high standards’.

“This didn’t bother me as I believe everyone can be in a team with some encouragement and training.”

Due to determination, hard work and a lot of training the Burscough team not only lifted the Central Lancs League title, they won it by only dropping one point in the entire season. This was a fantastic achievement by a team that previous to this campaign had never finished above mid-table.

Added the delighted boss: “I am incredibly proud of the team and feel they have done a fantastic job working from underdogs to achieve league championship glory.”
