WEST LANCASHIRE Girls Football League have been crowned National FA Charter Standard League of the Year in The FA Community Awards 2013 presented by McDonalds.
This is the fourth annual FA Community Awards to recognise and reward the people and organisations driving grassroots football.
The awards build on the continued commitment of The FA to improve standards of community football and increase participation across all aspects of grassroots football through FA Charter Standard clubs and leagues.
David Burgess, chief executive of Lancashire FA was full of praise for the work the league has done.
He said: “The West Lancashire Girls League do fantastic work in promoting girls football across Lancashire. This is testament to the hard work of the league committee to encourage clubs to increase participation in female football.”
Members of the league committee collected their National Award at The FA Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.
To celebrate with this, the league gave the overall fairplay winners Fillies GFC tickets to watch the game.
