Edge Hill Tigers roar to the top

THE season has been one of ups and down for the majority of Edge Hill’s sports teams, but this certainly has not been the case for the men’s rugby league first team who are now proud champions of the BUCS Rugby League Premier North division.

Not only this, but they have done it in style, having won all their nine games.

The Tigers, as they are known on campus, racked up an impressive 303 points from tries and conversions, conceding only 66.

Nic Bouchard, Student Union President said: “The Students’ Union are very proud of the lads and they are a credit to themselves and the Union. “Throughout the season they have conducted themselves both on and off the pitch in a great manor and this has really shown in their results.”

The team is now off to the national finals and, on the back of their winning season, will be applying to play in the national Super Six division against the best in university Rugby League next year.
