ORMSKIRK ended their first season in South Lancs Cheshire One as they had started, with a loss to Bowdon, writes James Illingworth.
The 26-12 defeat means the Green Lane side finished a credible sixth place after winning half of their 20 league matches this season.
A try for hooker Andy Wilson had given Ormskirk the early advantage on Saturday but three Bowdon scores just after half-time gave the away side a 26-7 lead.
Paul Kearney claimed a late consolation score but the match ended on an extremely negative note as replacement winger Pete Wright dislocated his knee having fallen awkwardly after a tackle.
The referee and both captains agreed the match would be ended 10 minutes from time as Wright was taken to hospital.
Wright's injury is the latest in a number of serious knee injuries for Ormskirk players following those sustained by Mark Hutchings and Matt Johnson earlier in the season.
This Saturday Ormskirk face Southport in the annual John Wynn Trophy match.
In a disappointing weekend all round at Green Lane, the second XV lost 34-7 away at Macclesfield, the third XV lost 24-22 at Northwich and the fourth team lost 50-22 at home to Fleetwood.
