THE WEATHER, for the third week in a row, put paid to all but three First Division fixtures.
News also of Parnell’s throwing in the towel sent the Premier table into disarray, as the points deducted once again spoilt the season for the clubs affected.
Lanes End 6 Sacred Heart 3
LANES END and Sacred Heart battled out a close first half after the Lane had shot into a three goal lead with goals from Craig Maddox, Declan Gregson and their mom Tom Harborn.
This shook Sacred Heart into action and a brace from Paul Pounder reduced the arrears setting up what promised to be an exciting second half.
However the break only helped the Lane to regroup and it didn’t take long for them to increase their lead as Darren Thomas added a brace to put the game beyond Sacred Heart.
Both teams did grab another goal each before the end, Lanes from Scott Dillon and Hearts last minute effort from Graeme Tweed finding the net through a packed area.
The game well refereed by Bob Mulvey, was well over as a contest though, despite Tweeds late finish.
George’s 4 Ambrose Ellis 2
GEORGE’S started this game with sheer determination as they went two goals ahead within the first ten minutes through a Jay Clarke free kick after two minutes and a Adam Wilkinson header on seven minutes.
That’s how it stayed till Mark Clarke reduced the arrears just before half time to give Ellis some hope of a comeback.
The second half was end to end with little to show for each team till the sixty fifth minute when Steve Warmsley crashed home the third for George’s.
This only inspired Jay Tolken to go forward and head home from a corner to put Ellis back into the game once again.
Alas before the celebrations had died down Alan Murray cracked home George’s fourth and game over as George’s tightened up their defence for the remainder of the game.
