Southport Dramatic Club, in association with their Youth Theatre, present the 1986 award-winning musical, ‘Into The Woods’ as their Autumn production at Southport Little Theatre.

With songs and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim from the book by James Lapine, it has won many Tony Awards and been performed consistently ever since. A Disney film starring Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp is being released this Christmas.

Directed by Stephen Hughes-Alty, ‘Into the Woods’ combines the well-known fairy tales of Cinderella (Kerry Baratinsky). Jack of  Beanstalk fame (Robbie Fletcher-Hill), and Little Red Riding Hood, (Rachel Kitchen)  with the story of a Baker (Chris Rimmer) and his Wife (Debbie Bloom) who have been cursed with childlessness by a Witch (Bernadette Peters).

Now they must perform various missions, involving the characters from the fairy tales, to break the spell. Once the characters have accomplished their goals, however, they become aware of having to be careful of what they wish for. No one is all bad or all good. Every action has consequences. They must learn how to live in contentment after ‘happy ever after’.

Joe Bloom and Thomas Corcoran share the role of Narrator, while the adult members of the cast include SDC stalwarts Trudi Hirsch and Sandy Town.

The show runs from Monday September 1 to Saturday, September 6, at 7.30pm each evening.

Tickets can be bought only from the Little Theatre Box Office.  For more information phone 01704 530521/530460.
