There's nowt odd about the latest offering from Southport Dramatic Club

Florence and Olive replace Felix and Oscar in reworked story of bickering flatmates

Tony Randall and Jack Klugman in the TV version of The Odd Couple. Southport Dramatic Club's version features a female take on the classic pairing.

SOUTHPORT Dramatic Club’s penultimate production this season will  be The Odd Couple –  in a  female version of Neil Simon's classic.

Ray Mann, who also directed this popular comedy in  1992, returns with a cast of feisty  ladies and a couple of suave guys.

Divorcee Olive lives in blissful  chaos in her New York apartment,  where she hosts regular evenings  with her girlfriends, playing Trivial  Pursuits. 

When neurotic and suicidal  Florence becomes separated from her  husband and moves in with Olive,  friendships become seriously  strained.

Florence finds comfort in using her  talents as a domestic goddess, to  bring order into Olive’s life.  So, the  obsession which lost Florence her  husband now impinges on Olive, who  retaliates by arranging a double date  with two Spanish brothers in the next  apartment.  This leads to even more  confusion and complications.

Helen Pickavance and Helen  Bennett star as Olive and Florence  with Georgina Gillen, Val Davies, Jan  Hale, Siuzanne Gray, Lee Butcher and  Paul Wilkinson.
