New comedy talents set to arrive at The Atkinson

Stars of TV, radio and the stand up circuit will be performing in Southport

Seann Walsh, arriving at The Atkinson on May 24

The Atkinson has announced it’s comedy programme from May to December so far, with TV names such as Seann Walsh, Henning Wehn, Paul Foot, Paul Chowdhry, Katherine Ryan. Tommy Tiernan and Mark Steel to appear.

The new season of events begins on Saturday, May 24 with comedies fastest rising star, Seann Walsh returning with an all-new show to show the world that he’s The Lie-in King!

Star of Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week, BBC1’s Live At The Apollo and Dave’s Argumental, Seann is a charming and charismatic natural born observational storyteller, and one of the most frighteningly precocious talents to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in years. Tickets are £14.

The next comedy event after that is on Saturday, June 7, when the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club presents Gordon Southern, Quincy and Allyson Smith.

Gordon Southern’s upbeat and energetic delivery combined with fantastically funny observational comedy and quick witted improvisation has secured his place as an audience favourite all over the world. In short this is one very charismatic and incredibly funny performer!

Quincy is regarded as one of the best of a new wave of comics to come out of the UK,with a regular turnover of material and a stage presence second to none. His TV credits include Comedy Central’s Comedy Blue, MTV’s Comedy Funhouse, and BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Comedy On The Boat.

From the moment Allyson Smith put down the chalk brush in 2000 and picked up the mic she’s been tickling Canada’s comedy scene to great acclaim. Playing to packed rooms has become like another day in the classroom for this former school teacher.

The show starts at 8pm and tickets are £12.50 in advance and £15 on the door. Visit www.theatkinson.co.uk or call (01704) 533333 for more information.
